Besma Abidi

Dr. Besma Abidi has over 30 years of experience in developing and delivering complex image processing systems in both academic and industry environments. As a faculty member at the University of Tennessee’s Electrical Engineering Department, Besma led multiple projects on topics including facial recognition, long-range image restoration and illumination correction for both government agencies and commercial entities. As Project Director for Tandent Vision, Besma led a team focused on correcting severe illumination and shadowing issues. Throughout her career, Dr. Abidi has been an active contributor to the image processing body of knowledge, writing a book, multiple chapters as a contributing author and over 100 publications in renowned peer reviewed journals.
