InnovatorsBox® has conducted several workshops with the staffs and students across different divisions at John Hopkins University. In the Fall of 2016, we offered a 90-Minute Lunch and Learn session to 20+ staff participants. In the Spring of 2017, as a part of their ideas conference, we also offered three 45-Minute workshops to a total of 30 participants, approximately.
At the end of the workshops, the participants gained deeper insights and a better understanding on collaboration, creativity, and mindfulness. They learned how they can be better collaborators among the peers, with the clients, and on a cross-hierarchical level. The participants also learned how to be aware and considerate when they collaborate, and gained an understanding on how to have comfortable conversations across diverse demographics. In a company that is very structured and bureaucratic, the participants learned that flexibility and structure do not need a trade-off, but they come hand-in-hand. After participating in our creative exercises, the participants also realized and appreciated that being fun and playful is helpful in problem-solving.
"Monica has introduced a new way of working at Booz Allen. Through InnovatorsBox workshops at our Innovation Center and annual Ideas Festival in Washington, DC, employees have had the chance to explore what creativity means in a business setting and how to apply new thinking to tired problems. These practices are essential learning for not only bringing change into an environment, but a level of comfortability in embracing creativity as a fundamental discipline for innovation. Thank you!"
